Jay-Z
Jay-Z's third album, Vol. 2: Hard Knock Life took him away from hardcore hip hop and into the pop arena. Taken from this album it was the single Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem), with it's irritatingly catchy chorus lifted from the musical Annie. It scored Jay-Z a a huge hit and massively raised his profile.

Over the next few years he would build on this success, laying claim to being the greatest MC of his era.
