It's official, the dance music genre is alive and well, according to Orbital who have been 6 Music's session guests at Maida Vale for the 6 Music 10th anniversary celebrations.

"People are never going to stop dancing, that's the ultimate thing, people love to dance," they told 6 Music's Lauren Laverne who questioned why the Brit Award organisers pulled the dance category in the first place.

Earlier Orbital posted the music video for their latest single New France online.

The track, which features Zola Jesus, is the lead single from their forthcoming album Wonky.

Phil and Paul Hartnoll haven't released an album since the Blue Album in 2004, but claim time has been well spent listening to music which has inspired the sound of the next album.

"Of course, we have always been influenced by everything going on in dance music, there is 8 years of dancing and history to get thrown in."

One of the more formidable festival headline acts around, the brothers will tour the UK in support of the album next month - the record it's claimed has been crafted with live sets in mind.

"We had been touring for a couple of years, and thought 'right what do we want to make that can be played live?'"

The trek begins at Manchester's Academy on  5 April and runs until 10 April, the duo then headline London's Royal Albert Hall.

The album is out on 2 April.
