Roles and responsibilities
- John McAndrew is Director of Programmes for ´óÏó´«Ã½ News, responsible for the quality, consistency and editorial direction of ´óÏó´«Ã½ television and radio news programmes, including Breakfast, the One, Six and Ten O’clock News bulletins, Newsnight, the Today programme, PM, Newsbeat, Radio 5 Live.
Biography
John has more than 25 years’ experience of frontline news and current affairs and has held executive positions at several major news broadcasters, including Sky News (Executive Editor & Director of Content), NBC News International, ITN Productions and more.
He took up this position in January 2023, and prior to that he was most recently the launch editor of The Andrew Neil Show at Channel 4. Before this he spent a year as Editorial Director and Director of News and Programmes at GB News and three years as a Consulting Executive at NBC News International.
During more than a decade in senior roles at Sky News, John launched multiple programmes and formats, including The Pledge and Boulton & Co; was Executive Producer of Live at Five as well as Sky’s election coverage and Leaders’ Debates He also spent time as Head of International News, before being appointed Executive Editor & Director of Content on all platforms.
John began his news career in the ´óÏó´«Ã½â€™s Political Research Unit, and went on to a number of ´óÏó´«Ã½ producer and editor roles, including launching and editing the Daily Politics on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Two.

Expenses are costs incurred by ´óÏó´«Ã½ staff on behalf of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ and claimed through the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s expenses system.
Central bookings are costs incurred on behalf of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ and booked through the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s central bookings system. Both expenses and central bookings are published every three months.
