This is a remarkable little oil press made in India using entirely local smithing processess. The lead screw is a precisely twisted flat of steel that passes through a slot, thus simulating traditional threading on a screw. The receptacle is folded and welded with a finely perforated metal base forge welded to the cylinder. When the screw has been pulled up to its maximum point it can swivel to 90º creating space to refill the receptacle. This is filled with seed or fruit and oil or juice extracted! I have very little info about it as I bought it off a scrap dealer in New Delhi.
