My sister & I toured Rhodesia in the mid 1970's where our father had lived for some years. We visited the ruins of the ancient city, Great Zimbabwe and the local tour guide described the castle and made mention that the Europeans considered that the Africans could not possibly of had the skills or where with all to have constructed such a city & it's intricate carvings! They had concluded that it must have been the work of another culture, this clearly rankled with the locals. I recall the tour guide quietly stating that if ever Rhodesia were to be renamed it would be known as Zimbabwe .
