My object is an American Silver Dollar, often called a Silver Eagle. This is a pure silver bullion coin weighing one ounce, it carries a nominal value of $1.00. Bullion in bar and coin form is how silver, gold and other metals is often traded.
This coin was recovered from bullion vaults in the World Trade Centre where the New York Metals Exchange was located. Some of the coins recovered were, certified, mounted in cases and made available to collectors, the proceeds of the sale went to Uniformed Firefighters Association (UFA) Widows and Children's Fund.
I see the coin as a little part of a very significant day in recent history.
