I wrote this book 'Before It's Too Late'. It's a history of my life and also a history of the people of the East Down area. I wrote it because I feeared that all the things that I knew and had experienced would disappear unrecorded. I has been waiting for someone to write a local history and no-one did, so I did it myself! 250 copies of the book were printed in 2003. Copies were sent to people in Canada and a friend of mine even had a copy sent to him in Australia. I suppose the book reminds them of their roots. The includes a chapter on the Home Guard and memories of World War Two "We were ordered to meet every evening at Ballyhossett farmyard plus training every weekend". I think more people should be writing the stories of their lives, so we get a better record of our local history. The cover of the book was designed by John Scovell. Contributed by William Crea.
