Episode 45
S矛leas stops many people and asks them where on earth the name Lochmaddy comes from. She has whipped herself up into a frenzy imagining that this island is a hotbed of wolf-like action. 鈥淚s this place even safe?鈥, she wonders. Eventually, she meets a wise old woman. This woman knows the origins of the place name. S矛leas prepares herself for a tale of woe and tragedy. Instead the woman points to the rocks in the entrance to the loch. The woman explains that the rocks are shaped like dogs' or wolves' heads, they are known as Na Madaidhean, or The Wolves.
Although she feels safer, S矛leas is bitterly disappointed. She wonders if rocks can ever be interesting? Marsaili suddenly bursts into life and says of course they can and she knows all about this chambered cairn in North Uist, Barpa Langass. S矛leas still wants to investigate native wildlife, namely the corncrake!
