The latest series of Glow Up: Britain's Next Make-Up Star is underway - and the competition is heating up as the MUAs take part in a Roblox assignment.
Glow Up is judged by Val Garland and Dominic Skinner, and hosted by Leomie Anderson - and the series sees up-and-coming make-up artists tested over the course of six weeks.
This week, Isamaya Ffrench stepped in as judge for Val as Connor, Ella, Jess and Shania faced an assignment like no other when they were asked to create a full-body make-up look for online gaming platform Roblox鈥檚 77.7m daily users who span across 180 countries.
Connor and Ella, and Jess and Shania were paired up and tasked with creating a nature-themed look that 鈥渃elebrated coming back to your roots and authentic self-expression鈥 using Roblox鈥檚 Texture Generator - a new AI tool that creates custom textures on the platform through text prompts. Users can then transform their Roblox experience to look the way they would like.
The winners then had their look turned into a digital clothing user generated content (UGC) item that any Roblox user can wear. This free, limited item is now available on Roblox in the .
The winning design
Ultimately, it was Ella and Connor who nabbed the win with their green and blue design with a butterfly centred on the chest.
鈥淲e didn't want to go too abstract, because we wanted people to see that it is clearly nature-themed,鈥 says Connor.
鈥淲e went with the butterfly because it's all about spreading your wings, being your authentic self, and we used greens and blues so regardless of gender, age, it suited everyone.鈥
Ella says it was her favourite assignment on the series so far.
鈥淚 think it's quite a striking design as well,鈥 she adds.
The assignment highlighted how tech and beauty have fused together, especially on platforms such as Roblox.
鈥淚t was really cool to see how a real-life design could be turned into something digital,鈥 Connor says.
How to access the Glow Up UGC item
The winning design is now available as a free, limited item on Roblox in the Glow Up area.
Val and Dom direct users have to complete five challenges as part of a make-up statue puzzle. And then users take a picture in a selfie spot with Val and Dom.
Roblox users will then be able to claim the limited UGC look.

Importance of self-expression
Winnie Burke is Head of Fashion and Beauty Partnerships at Roblox - and she guest judged the assignment along with YouTuber Yammy.
The MUAs were judged on: if the designs were based on symmetry, if the make-up covered the entire body, how well the design fit the theme. And how well the look would appeal to the Roblox audience as an avatar item.
A Roblox assignment on Glow Up was a natural fit, Winnie says, because Roblox users enjoy experimenting with their appearance through their avatars.
She adds that 鈥渟elf-expression is paramount鈥 to Roblox users.
