Born and brought up in London, Rishi learnt to play classical Indian instruments as a young child.ÌýWorking as a runner in a recording studioÌýfrom the age of eleven,Ìýat just thirteen Rishi hooked up with a friend, and they signed their first record deal under the production 2 Kool.ÌýIn 1996, at the age of 16, Rishi released the single 'Bombay Jungle' followed by the smash hit Asian album Love 2 Love. 2 Kool released other hit albums including Warm It Up, 2 Kool Flava, Bollywood Fever and Klassic Kuts, as well as the Love 2 Love series. Love 2 Love Part II won an award for the best selling remix album of 1997.

Rishi then toured India, recording with Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan and Kavita Krishnamurti. In 1997 he teamed up with the talented Asian soul singer Veronica and formed the RnB duo VR1. The collaboration culminated inÌýthree hit albums, The Next Stage, Love 2 Love Part 5 and Voices. Rishi went on to work with Apache Indian, Bally Jagpal, B21, Sonu Nigam, Premi, Don Dee, Mentor, Saagar Malik, PDM , Amar and Gunjan and in 2000 wasÌýsigned to Bally Sagoo's label, Ishq Records.

While Rishi enjoyed working on traditional Asian music, which could be heard on his first five album releases, he was keen to further develop his skills and start producing a variety of beats and sounds, as a way to incorporate his love for RnB, hip-hop, ragga and garage music. Rishi broke into the mainstreamÌýin early 2002 when he linked up with MisteeqÌýand produced their Number 7 chart hit 'Roll On' and a cover of Montell Jordan's 'This Is How We Do It'. Being able to create authentic, traditional Asian music, while also producing underground hip-hop beats, smooth RnB and Pop mainstream cuts, has established Rishi as a cutting edge producer.

Rishi's 2002, debut solo album Simply Rich went straight in at Number 1 in the Asian Pop charts and remained inÌýthe topÌýthree six months after its release.ÌýWhile working on this project Rishi met Punjabi vocalist Juggy D and singer/rapper Jay Sean, who have since become the current spearhead of the Rishi Rich Project. Their debut single 'Dance With You' reached Number 12 in September 2003 and the new single 'Eyes On You' is currently at Number 6 (June 2004).

2003 ended on a high note for Rishi picking up the Carlton Multi-Cultural Acheivement award for Music, and winningÌýtwo Asian Music Awards for ‘Best Producer’ & ‘Best Single’.
