The ´óÏó´«Ã½ are committed to ensuring Radio 2 Live is an event that is accessible and inclusive for all that attend. We work in partnership with Attitude is Everything, who work to improve D/deaf and disabled people’s access to live music.

On this page you can find detailed information about the accessible facilities and services we have at this event, and the application form to apply to use them. Please read the information on this page before applying for the accessible facilities you require. If you have any questions you can contact the Access team via the contact details at the bottom of this page.

 

Our Access Scheme allows you to apply for the following facilities, click the link to find more information on each one:

 

In your application you will be required to include one of the below supporting documents:

  • PIP (Personal independence payment)
  • DLA – care and/or mobility
  • A letter from a medical professional
  • D/deaf or blind registration
  • The Access Card or equivalent with a +1 icon if applying for a PA ticket.
  • Blue Badge – accepted for parking only requests

Please note any submitted documents are securely destroyed.

If you do not have any of the above documentation but require the use of our Accessible facilities, please contact the Access Team for advice. All contact details are listed at the end of this document.

Anyone turning up on the day without making prior arrangements may not be able to access our facilities. However we will always try to accommodate any late requests.

 

Ground Conditions/Weather

This is an outdoor event taking place at Temple Newsam Park. The event site is made up of predominately grass with limited hard standing pathways; this means the terrain in areas is uneven and significantly undulated in places. There may be inclement weather so we advise preparing for all weather conditions.

 

How to apply for Accessible Facilities

So that we can effectively plan for the event and provide the right number of facilities, please ensure you pre-register as an Access customer – please note we may not be able to help with ad hoc requests on the day.

 

How to book Accessible Facilities:

  1. Book a ticket for the event day that you would like to attend
  2. Complete an Access Requirements Form, selecting the facilities needed (including requesting a Personal Assistant (PA) ticket if required
  3. Upload the supporting documentation for validation of your request
  4. Submit the form back to us as soon as possible

 

Accessible Facilities and Services

Below you can find more information on the accessibility facilities and services we offer at this event. If you require the use of these facilities, you must complete and submit an Access Requirements form which can be found at the bottom of the page, alongside our Access team’s contact details if you have any questions about our services.

 

Accessible Entrance and Information Point

We will have a clearly signposted Accessible Entrance at this event. Directions to this entrance will be included in the Access Guide which will be emailed prior to the event. A member of the Access team will be based here throughout the event to assist with any queries.

We allow Access customers plus three members of their party to use the Accessible Entrance. All other members of your party must enter via the Public Entrance.

 

Accessible Viewing Platform

For customers that require it, there will be a raised accessible viewing platform at the Radio 2 Main Stage and an accessible area at the Radio 2 DJ Tent. The platform has a very limited capacity and is strictly for access customers plus their 1 PA only. Customers should register their interest in using the platform via the Access Requirements form.

The viewing platform will have accessible and standard toilets as well as charging points for powerchairs.

 

Personal Assistant (PA) tickets

If you are unable attend the event without the support from a Personal Assistant, you can apply for a complimentary PA ticket. Customers wishing to apply for a PA ticket must purchase their own standard ticket, but do not need to purchase one for their Personal Assistant.

A PA ticket can only be applied for by completing an Access requirements form within four weeks of purchasing your ticket.

Please do not buy a ticket for your PA as this will not be refunded if they are approved.

Please ensure the person you choose to attend with you as your PA is willing and able to assist you throughout your visit, and would be available and able to help you in an evacuation.

 

Accessible Toilet Facilities

Accessible toilets will be situated around the site and at the viewing platform. All toilet locations will be shown on the site map and in the Access Guide that you will receive before the event.

 

Changing Places Unit

We will provide a changing places unit containing a height adjustable bed with hoist, as well as a sink and toilet. Please note, hoist slings will not be provided so please bring your own if required.

The location of the changing places unit will be detailed in the Access Guide.

 

Shuttle Bus Services

Shuttle buses operated by Big Green Coach will operate between Leeds City Centre and Radio 2 Live on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September. On each event day, the first shuttle bus will depart Leeds City Centre at 10am and the final bus will leave the event site at 11pm.

All shuttle buses are wheelchair accessible with low floor access.

All event ticket holders will require a shuttle bus ticket, this includes customers attending on PA tickets.

Advance return ticket: £11.50

 

Accessible Car Parking

Parking at this event is limited and is only permitted with the pre-approved Parking Pass provided by the Access Team. Space within the accessible car park is normally for Blue Badge holders however it must be pre-booked via the Access Requirements form. Customers that require Accessible Parking must also purchase an official car parking pass.

If you feel you would be unable to attend the event without accessible parking and do not have a Blue Badge please contact us.

Parking passes will be sent out in advance of the event.

 

D/deaf Customers

 

BSL – Performance Interpreting

A performance interpreting service will be provided by fully qualified interpreters and will take place on our viewing platform at the pre-request of any guests that require it. Please complete our Access Requirements form if you require this service to be made available to you.

Details of the Performance Interpreting Schedules will be included in the Access Guide.

 

Hearing/Induction Loops

There will be induction loops available on site. Exact locations will be communicated in the Access Guide.

 

Other Useful Information

 

Medication

If you need to bring medication with you, please bring a doctor’s note or prescription for it and keep medication in its original boxes. We have temperature controlled storage available for medicine, please advise us in advance if you require this. Please contact the Access team should you need more advice or guidance.

  

Strobe lighting and special effects

Some performances may use special effects such as smoke machines, strobe lights, fireworks and other effects may be in use at this event. Anyone affected by these should bear this in mind.

 

Chairs and seating

There will be limited chairs available for use on the viewing platform.

Customers are welcome to bring picnic blankets to the event however for safety reasons, customers cannot bring chairs or shooting sticks without prior agreement in writing from the Access team.

Security and safety

Crowd Management personnel are clearly identifiable by their numbered tabards. Staff are all issued with a staff handbook and are briefed on all aspects of the event and are able to assist and give information.

In the instance of a site evacuation please ensure that your PA is aware that they are your main point of assistance in an emergency evacuation. Crowd management personnel located near the viewing platform will assist in moving everybody to a place of safety.

 

Temporary impairments

Please note that our access customer facilities are not for the use of those individuals with temporary impairments such as broken bones and recent injuries. The facilities are for the specific use of access customers and we kindly ask that you please respect this.

If you have a temporary impairment at the time of the festival we advise the following:

• Comfortable footwear

• Wet and warm weather clothing

• Sun screen and sunglasses

Medical and welfare facilities are available to everyone. There will be signed First Aid points located across the festival site.

 

Access Registration Form

The Access team aim to process your application within 10 days of receiving your form and any supporting documentation. If you do not send any supporting documentation, it will delay your application.

We will send your confirmation letter by email once your application has been approved. Your confirmation letter will detail the facilities that you have requested access to and will confirm your PA ticket if you have applied for one.

You will also be sent an Access Guide in the week leading up to the event detailing event arrival, updated information and site map showing the accessible facilities.

If you have applied for and been approved a car parking pass you will receive this at the same time.
