Confuzion

Confuzion

Listen up folks, it's Confuzion here with their concoction of funky classic rock, all played to perfection in a show of light, wizardry and sound.

THE BAND

  • Ashley Stone - vocals
  • Pat Kohlhammer - guitars
  • Nick Willson - keyboards
  • Dave Woodage - bass
  • Nick Mylum - drums

Confuzion is a five-piece band of extraordinary musicianship and showmanship composing and performing dramatic, inspired, original rock music.

The band formed in February 2002, pulling together an assortment of reputed musicians around the Reading area.Ìý Since then the band has released an album, Opposition, a single, Reasons, both on the Criteria label, and undergone several personnel changes to perfect its dynamic sound, aiming for the release of its second album, single and a major tour.

Confuzion has performed across the UK, both on its own and supporting named acts including Dutch band Focus, US top guitarist Carvin Jones and his band, Magenta and the Damien Wilson band.Ìý

Confuzion’s music has been likened to Focus, Rush, Deep Purple, Muse and Incubus: an eclectic mix which delivers a unique fusion of musical styles.Ìý Its market began as specifically progressive rock but, as the compositions and band identity have evolved, so has its market.Ìý

We now find Confuzion attracts both the traditional classic and progressive rock fans plus a whole new audience of younger music lovers who empathise with the qualities of newer acts such as Muse and Mars Volta, from teenagers upwards.Ìý Confuzion’s sound mirrors no other band specifically but the energy, musicianship and creative writing complements many of the greats of today and yesterday.

The band members are:
Ashley Stone, an exceptional singer/ performer with the widest vocal range and versatility of styles; Pat Kohlhammer, guitarist, trained by Dave Kilminster and others, of fantastic technical and creative ability; Nick Willson, the main writer and keyboardist, colouring the music with piano, Hammond and synths; Dave Woodage, versatile bassist who works tirelessly to bond the rhythm section and backline: an awesome force; Nick Mylum, one of the most talented ‘unknown’ drummers in the UK with shocking technical and artistic skill, the driving energy.

Confuzion has received radio airplay and undergone several local radio interviews and live performances plus a host of enthusiastic press and e-zine reviews.

Their second album will be in the form of a DVD, due for release around Christmas.Ìý This will contain four promo videos plus nine live tracks ranging from several commercial, radio-friendly songs to bigger, creative works and two highly charged instrumentals.Ìý Whilst the music is intricate and challenging, Confuzion prides itself on the ability to perform it all live with passion and religious precision.Ìý Their live shows are big, energetic and powerful.Ìý

Frontman Ashley Stone plays a vocally and visually exciting role whilst the musical engine works hard behind him.Ìý The live tracks are linked with soundtracks and effects, producing a complete show that stimulates the senses.Ìý

Confuzion’s music has also brought interest from the film world, particularly in the United States, and Criteria Records is currently in discussions with two top movie producers regarding soundtrack opportunities.

A limited edition CD of four previously unreleased tracks is currently available on-line through www.confuzion.com.
