Better Value Music (an explanation of sorts) The basic premise of the threefortenpound philosophy, although not fixed or overtly thought through and certainly not written in stone, is something along the lines that: Yes indeed, the world can suck and love hurts and somehow it just seems so unjust 鈥 but ain鈥檛 that always the way and isn鈥檛 it a great day for doing something about it, and, and don鈥檛 ya just feel like dancin鈥? The philosophy can be summed up with the phrase "cor, sounds like a bargain to me, mate." How got together: Romantically, threefortenpound formed on Friday 14 February 1998 in the pub. Rob and Dylan had been working on some songs together and needed a band to play them. Enter the Smith twins Chris and Mike and bassist Bez. By Sunday afternoon the band had written four new songs together 鈥 two remain live favourites to this day! The prolific song writing of that first weekend continued unabated. By early 1999 elder Smith brother Andy replaced Bez and the genesis of the band was complete. Influences/ Styles: The music of threefortenpound is a natural combination of punk energy, pop sensibility, cool funk and down-n-dirty beats. Live, it鈥檚 all about the performance, the show, to get people dancin' and thinkin鈥. The whole ethos is about combining and compounding the aesthetic, the visceral and the cerebral.
