HYPNoTRIP

Newbury-based electronica two-piece HYPNoTRIP aim to space you out with their ambient bleeps and suck you into the black hole towards their far-off galaxy. Find out more about the band below and listen to a track off their demo EP.

BAND MEMBERS

Pete Delahaye - Music, keyboards, FX, programming and production
Tara J Williams - Vocals, lyrics

UK based electronic outfit HYPNoTRIP was formed in 2006 by creative technologist Pete Delahaye. It is the collective set of collaborative work executed over the past few years by Pete and other parties including vocalist Tara J. Williams.

HYPNoTRIP aspire to create new art and music through using new and progressive virtual technology. "Most of our work has been created on new PC and web-based technology – and our strategies for marketing and sales are focused on exploiting internet-based channels" says Pete. "That's not to say we won't publish on traditional media" he adds.

But for the band - what is important at the end of the day is the music. HYPNoTRIP are people who are passionate about music and art – they simply want there music and art to be heard and to be seen.

This passion for music for Pete began at a very early age, born in the East End of London, Pete still has fond memories of spending hours making up tunes on a Contempo style toy keyboardÌýin his bedroom, lit by the floodlights of Boleyn Road, home ground of West Ham United. "I would play, wailing over the tunes I had made up…and then perform shadow finger puppets on my wall from the light cast by the floodlights on match nights – and the crowds would roar!Ìý Always the dreamer…"

Pete left the UK aged 7 and spent many years in Southern Africa. His first band was formed aged 10 – The Penguins – which consisted of a tape recorder and a gang of likely lads strumming on tennis rackets – a real garage band!

Years on – Pete played his way through many bands with many synthesisers, playing covers and originals – always looking for new sounds and ideas. Today, HYPNoTRIP is reflective of this searching.

"I was looking for vocalists with new ideas, and Tara picked up my ad on the net…" Tara, full of ideas and vocals, sent in her samples she had recording using a simple Dictaphone. The original vocals for the first demo of Never Direct Me were recorded on the underpass at Twickenham Green station. Even the footsteps as Tara walked are featured as an effect on the current demo version.

HYPNoTRIP are currently recording new material and aspire to launch an album by Autumn 2006. They also hope to be playing gigs towards the end of the year.
