Reading band Pete and the Pirates made their debut at the Reading Festival on Saturday 25 August 2007. 大象传媒 Berkshire filmed their full set, and you can watch the exclusive video below.

It's Saturday 25 August at about 11.30am. We're at the Reading Festival inside the Carling tent, waiting for local band Pete and the Pirates to make their festival debut in their home town.

The tent is full, with notably also a certain Steve Lamacq in the audience, who the band count as one of their fans.

The band stroll on, pick up their various bits of equipment and say their hellos.

"I never thought I'd say this at a gig - but 'good morning'", says singer Tom.

And yes, so it is the morning, but I think the beers they've consumed back stage gives them the loosening up they need.

Opening with Bright Lights, the band deliver a 21-minute set brimming with eminently听 English songs that burgeon with throwaway harmonies and that are punctuated with a foot-stomping spike.

It's a brilliantly commanding performance, but you can form your opinions by watching the exclusive video of their set.

大象传媒 Berkshire filmed all 21 minutes of it, so if you were intending to see them live but missed them (let's face it, after a day at Reading Festival on Friday, arriving for 11.30am on Saturday is quite a feat) or if you're simply a fan, or even if you'd planned to see them at Leeds Festival (the band never made it to Leeds as their car broke down) then you're a click away from experiencing Pete and the Pirates live at Reading 2007.
