From Sunday 1 to Sunday 8 June, the musicians, including Reading's SixNationState, take to the River Thames to play a series of free gigs from Camden to Oxford.

On what is the called The River Rat Pack Tour the bands will travel in barges and sleep, eat and play shows together as they navigate their way down the Thames.

SixNationState frontman Gerry Del-Guercio says: "No one's ever done this before so it's nice to be part of it.

"We're all travelling in barges so it's going to be like one of those 'old skool' tours where everyone travels together and plays together."

Each day they will stop off at a river-side town - including Reading, Goring and Henley - to play a variety of venues, from packed out clubs and pubs to guerilla gigs along the river banks.

听"I'm not going to say where but we'll just be pulling up and playing random places in Reading!," says Gerry.

Acoustic shows will be played on the move from the roofs of the boats as they sail their way to the next town.

Though don't think SixNationState will be slumming it. While barges are known for not having the best toilet ventilation, Gerry says: "We're on a luxury barge.

"Our friend built a barge from scratch and it's got a hot tub, wide screen TV, proper decent toilets, proper shower, washing machines and proper nice kitchen area.

It doesn't look like the inside of a caravan it looks like the inside of a house. I'm really chuffed with it!"

River Rat Pack Organisers Ally Wolf and Nat Jenkins says the event is "a unique, exciting and eco-friendly concept" and added that it's also "a great way to introduce audiences to a fantastic collection of new bands and artists."

Along with the live gigs, each boat will be rigged up with web cams and audio recording equipment from which performances, collaborations and video diaries will be broadcast live each day straight to the Internet.

These live broadcasts, along with daily blog diaries, interviews and news, will all be found on www.seatwave.com.

This will keep fans up to date with the action on board and allow unprecedented access to the lives of bands on the road.
