Hatters get hitched

A reception in a car park might sound a little odd to most people. But not if that car park is located at glamorous Royal Ascot. And for a pair who own a hat shop, what could be more natural?

Rose and Phil Booth chose Royal Ascot's car park for their nuptial celebrations this year.

The couple own a hat shop, so what could be more apt than celebrating their wedding at the hat-wearing heaven that is Royal Ascot?

The happy pair were married in a registry office in Newcastle-under-Lyme on Monday, and travelled from Stoke in a coach with 40 guests at 8.30am to the races.

大象传媒 Berkshire's Maggie Philbin caught up with the hat-loving couple as they were waiting for their picnic tables to be set up before heading off for a day of fun at the races.

Rose told her: "We have been to Ascot before and we thought this would be a wonderful idea to bring our wedding party here, just to do something different."

"We had to hope for the best with the weather. It was just fingers crossed and hoping and praying that it would be nice."

Basking in the blazing sunshine, Phil Booth added: "We sell hats. Where do hat people come?听 They come to Ascot!

He joked. "It would be nice to win back the money I've spent for the day on the horses, but nobody's that lucky!"
