Sixty Watt Bayonets play Reading and Leeds!

Reading female-fronted punk band Sixty Watt Bayonets are the only local band to be playing the 大象传媒 Introducing stage at Reading and Leeds! 大象传媒 Berkshire get the reactions.

A big huge raucous congratulations to Reading punk band Sixty Watt Bayonets, who have been selected to play the 大象传媒 Introducing stage at the Reading Festival!

They are playing at Reading on Friday 28 August 2009 at 12.45pm and at Leeds on Sunday 30 August 2009 at 12.30pm.

Needless to say it's a big boost to the band who've only just released their mini album Pounding Hearts, Fighting Words.

Guitarist Will Bayonet describes how the band are feeling: "It's a strange mixture of being really excited and unbelievably nervous!

"It's particularly special to be playing at Reading because it was the first festival that any of us went to, so that feels a bit crazy.

"Especially when I think about all the bands the festival has introduced us to.

"It is also really cool to think we will be playing in Leeds, because no one would know us there so that'll be a great opportunity."

The 大象传媒 Introducing stage has catapulted The Ting Tings to stardom and recently hosted Reading band My Luminaries at T In The Park up in Scotland.

"The 大象传媒 Introducing Stage has broken so many of our favourite new bands," says Will, "for example The Joy Formidable and Pulled Apart By Horses both played it last year and they are both starting to get really popular."

Frontwoman Penny has a penchant for delving into the crowd to sing at unsuspecting punters, but will she attempt her party trick at the festival?

""I'm going to have a good go but I don't want to annoy security or anything!" says the history teacher, "hopefully I won't fall over or trip up and look stupid!"

Bands are confidentially nominated by regional and national 大象传媒 Introducing presenters; a panel of judges then decides on the final line-up based on the band's suitability to the festival in question and of course musical talent.
