two years - in bars around the city centre and on giant screens.
The
大象传媒 Big Screen in Chamberlain Square saw a family atmosphere as
crowds gathered on the natural ampitheatre of the steps to see the
match.

As the match progressed and the tension grew, more people filled the
square until it was standing room only.
Celebrations
The
celebrations after Frank Lampard's goal were quickly replaced with
tension, as France dominated the second half looking for an equaliser.
Nails
were bitten and brows furrowed as England held out, looking like
they might clinch a memorable victory.
Disbelief
Delight
in the square soon turned to disbelief as Beckham missed England's
penalty and Zinedine Zidane scored two injury time goals to give
France victory.
The
crowd filed away from the square in a numb silence, with none of
the trouble seen elsewhere in the city.
