The Mailbox

´óÏó´«Ã½ Birmingham - this is what we do

´óÏó´«Ã½ Birmingham is based at The Mailbox in the city centre.

The Mailbox is home to the ´óÏó´«Ã½ in Birmingham.ÌýAfter nearly 33 years, the ´óÏó´«Ã½ said goodbye to its famous Pebble Mill broadcasting centre, for a new home in the heart of the city centre.

HRH Princess Anne officially opened ´óÏó´«Ã½ Birmingham at The Mailbox on Thursday 9th September 2004.

So what do we do here in Birmingham?

Network television

Television Dramas such as Doctors and Dalziel & Pascoe are produced in Birmingham.

Because some programmes have special requirements, they are based at the Drama Village on the campus of the University of Birmingham.

There is also a Features & Documentaries department based at The Mailbox, that produce a broad range of Factual programming for the ´óÏó´«Ã½, including gardening programmes, Country File, and many others.

Regional & Local Programmes

Local news programme Midlands Today, Inside Out and The Politics Show all come from ´óÏó´«Ã½ Birmingham.

Network Radio

Birmingham produces a third of Radio 2's output as well as programmes for Radio 4, Radio Five Live and the Asian Network.

Local Radio

´óÏó´«Ã½ WM is the local radio station for Birmingham and the Black Country. It is the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s largest local radio station outside London.

New Media

The England and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Local websites, 'Travel News' and 'Video Nation' websites are just some of the New Media output from Birmingham.

The ‘Public Space’ is the foyer area of the ´óÏó´«Ã½. Here you can explore the past, present and future of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Birmingham, with displays reflecting the history of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ in the city.

You can also access the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s websites and view displays and exhibitions. There is a ´óÏó´«Ã½ shop where you can purchase ´óÏó´«Ã½ merchandise, as well as a small coffee bar.
