Luke Corbet supporting 大象传媒 WM's appeal

Footy fan Luke hopes to raise 拢10,000

In May 2009 Brummie Luke Corbet will be running around as many football pitches as possible to raise money for 大象传媒 WM's Kidney Kids Appeal.

Luke's idea to run around various football pitches picked up momentum a couple of months ago after he met with Blues鈥 PR and Communications Officer Chris Kershaw.

After hearing of the example set by Birmingham City in agreeing to support Luke as part of the 'Our City Our Vision initiative', Premier League giants Liverpool and Everton recently both agreed he could run a lap around the pitches at Anfield and Goodison Park.

That helped Luke raise over 拢2,000 towards his target amount and after enjoying his efforts on Merseyside so much he decided to enlist the help of other clubs.

They include Tottenham, Newcastle, Manchester City, Hull City, Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea City, Scunthorpe, Stevenage Borough and Glasgow Rangers.

Luke is now looking to kind-hearted Blues fans to help his magnificent efforts in trying to raise the funds. The money will go towards the 拢1.5 million needed by Birmingham Childrens Hospital to build a brand new, ultra-modern renal unit. For more about the appeal click here:

Luke's story

Luke was born with chronic renal failure and is partially sighted, meaning he can only see straight through his left eye. The illness has affected the functions of both of his kidneys.

He had an unsuccessful transplant when he was three and had to go on dialysis for seven years to sustain life until he had a successful kidney operation in September 1997.

Another example of Luke鈥檚 enormous courage is that he became the youngest person to recover from the type of transplant he had in 97, coming out of hospital within five days when usual recovery time is six weeks.

How can you help Luke reach his target?

Luke is not only looking for people willing to sponsor him via www.justgiving.com/lukecorbet but also any individual or any local business kind enough to sponsor his travel expenses, or provide a car and driver, as he kicks on with his charity initiative. Click here to sponsor Luke:

Blues鈥 PR and Communications Officer Chris Kershaw says: "Luke is a shining example to us all, not only in what he has had to go through throughout his life but also in setting about trying to make so much money to help others.

鈥淚鈥檓 sure that Blues fans will show how kind-hearted they are by sponsoring Luke 鈥 the icing on the cake would be if there鈥檚 anyone out there willing to help him subsidise his travel arrangements too.鈥

If you are willing and able to help please email Luke at corbo184@hotmail.com.
