Language, communication and listening are important skills needed for children starting school. Primary school teacher Annah Shoukat has some top tips for helping to develop your child's language and listening skills.
Tips:
鈥 Listening to your child can be a good way to develop their listening skills. Maintaining eye contact, nodding your head and giving them space whilst they're speaking can help them learn.
鈥 Providing more details when you are giving them instructions can help them understand exactly what it is that you're asking. For example, instead of saying "can you get your teddy?", you could say "can you go to your bedroom and get your teddy from under your bed?".
