What do we know about deepfakes?
- Deepfakes use a type of technology called 鈥榤achine learning鈥 to create a digital version of someone. This maps a person鈥檚 face and mouth movements so that it can then copy them
- Amateur deepfakes can be made using apps or programs, but they can usually be spotted by showing unusual flickering or blurring around someone鈥檚 face
- Technology is advancing, meaning we need to be on guard for more realistic deepfakes appearing on our feeds.
