Meet Isaac, 23, from Ilford, to find out more about life as a filmmaker and vlogger. Part of the Bitesize world of work series.
My name is Isaac, I'm 23 years old and I'm a vlogger and filmmaker. I made a YouTube channel around eight years ago. I started making videos to be able to share with friends and family, but it's now becoming more of a way of me inspiring other people.
During school, when I got to A-level, I did media where we were taught to make music videos and a film sequence. That really sparked my interest of carrying on making films. After finishing A-Levels, I was lucky enough to be gifted a camera and I was able to then start making vlogs. Every day's different for me. It can vary from filming outside to editing videos.
When people ask me how I edit my videos, all my films, it's very much a shock factor when I tell them that I use my feet. They usually see me in the wheelchair and my disability, but I don't allow that to stop me from making my videos and because I've adapted myself to be able to use the computer, it really brings out my independence to make these videos myself.
I get a lot of helping hands from a lot of people, my mum especially. She's helped me since day one to believe that I'm able to do everything and anything that I want to. I also taught my friend Liam how to edit his own videos.
Every time we go out, it's a new adventure. The great thing about working with Isaac is he has good time keeping, good planning, good communication skills and this all helps when we do our filming and editing.
I've done a lot of amazing things with my life. I've carried the Olympic torch for the London 2012 Games, I've gone skydiving in America, I've travelled abroad in many different places, I go sailing on a tall ship. All of it, I'm glad that I'm able to film, put out to the people the world and share my story. I want people to watch my videos to feel that anything's possible with the rightmindset. I want you to know that, yes, if you want to do it then, look, I'm doing it so why aren't you?
Whatever you want to do in life, keep at it. Keep working hard because it will get you somewhere. Anything is possible with the right mindset.
- Isaac took GCSEs including Business, Sociology and Food Technology, but regrets not doing Media. Luckily, he did Media at A-level
