Child psychologist Laverne Antrobus offers her tips to help you support your child's mental health while they're at primary school.

Laverne's tips

鈥 Encourage your child to be resilient. By praising and encouraging them to keep trying, children will be more able to deal more positively with opportunities and challenges at home or at school.

鈥 Look out for changes in your child鈥檚 behaviour 鈥 if you suspect a problem, ask your child how they are getting on and chat with their teacher.

鈥 Let your child know they can talk to you about anything and regularly check in with them by asking questions such as 鈥楬ow was your day?鈥
