Alkenes - Higher
The alkene Unsaturated hydrocarbon containing at least one C=C and with the general formula CnH2n are unsaturated hydrocarbons.
Hydrocarbons 鈥 because they contain hydrogen and carbon only.
Unsaturated 鈥 because they contain at least one C=C. Each alkene containing one C=C has two fewer hydrogen atoms than the corresponding alkane.
The general formula for the alkanes is CnH2n.
