Food labels, fluid intake and fats

Check food labels

The Eatwell Guide also reminds us to choose labelled products with lower fat, salt and sugar. We should try to choose foods with green and amber labels. The fewer red labels the better.

Fluid intake

The Eatwell Guide advises us to drink six to eight glasses of fluid a day. However, it is important that we limit our intake of fruit juice and smoothies to a total of 150ml a day because they are a source of free sugars.

Foods high in fat, salt and sugar

We should only eat foods that are high in fat, salt and sugar in small amounts. They are not an essential part of a healthy diet.
