Use the imperfect tense to talk about repeated or continuous actions in the past. The imperfect is used when the past action doesn鈥檛 have a definite beginning and definite end.

Regular verbs

The majority of are regular in the .

The imperfect is formed by removing the -ar, -ir and -er endings from the and adding the imperfect endings:

As you can see, the endings for -er and -ir verbs are the same.

Here are some examples of the imperfect tense:

  • Mi padre trabajaba en una oficina. (My father used to work in an office.)
  • De ni帽o, siempre com铆补 caramelos. (As a child, I always used to eat sweets.)
