Cá bhfuil? / Where is?
A preposition describes where or how one thing is in relation to another. In English, the words on, at, in, beside and under are prepositions.
Here are the basic prepositions needed to describe where items are in the classroom.

Here are some sample sentences.
| á an peann ar an deasc. | The pen is on the desk. |
| á an múinteoir os comhair an tábla. | The teacher is in front of the table. |
| á an rialóir sa leabhar. | The ruler is in the book. |
| á an bosca bruscair idir na fuinneoga. | The bin is between the windows. |

To use the negative, change á to í.
