Charts and graphs

Spreadsheets can become very large and complex. Imagine keeping track of large projects or finances for an entire organisation.

Most people find large tables of data difficult to understand. It can become very hard to follow what is happening over a period of time and identify trends.

Charts and graphs provide a of data, which can often make it easier to understand.

To produce a chart, use the chart wizard or the gallery, then follow the onscreen instructions. There are several types of chart. Choose a chart based on the type of to be displayed. The charts you can choose from include:

  • Line graph 鈥 to show a change over time
  • Pie chart 鈥 to show the individual parts that make up a whole
  • Bar chart 鈥 to compare things that aren't directly related
  • Scatter graph 鈥 to look for a pattern or link between two sets of data
