In all years the number of men infected is greater than women (1 mark). The number of women infected remains constant, below 1000 per year (1 mark). Between 2017 and 2019 the number of men infected remained constant around 7000 (1 mark). Between 2013 and 2023 the number of men infected increased from around 3000 to over 8000 (1 mark).

What conclusions about gonorrhoea can you draw from this data? Use numbers in your answer. [4 marks]
In all years the number of men infected is greater than women (1 mark). The number of women infected increased from 2013 to 2023 (1 mark). The number of men infected increased from 2013 to 2019 before reducing in 2020 (1 mark). Between 2013 and 2019 the number of men infected increased to around 50 000 before reducing to under 40 000 (1 mark). It increased after this (1 mark).

Gonorrhoea infections are not found equally throughout England (1 mark). Fewer infections are found in East Anglia, the South West and in parts of Northern England (1 mark). Higher rates of infection are found in major cities (1 mark). These include London and Birmingham (1 mark).
