Discrete data chart
One of the best types of chart for discrete data is a bar chart.
A bar chart is one of the most common types of chart. The bars signify the size of the category they represent and can be drawn either vertically or horizontally.
To create a bar chart showing the number of schoolchildren who attend different after-school clubs, begin by entering your discrete data into a spreadsheet.
It is very important that the chart has an overall title, as well as titles for each axis. Make sure you add suitable titles into the spreadsheet. In this example 鈥楥lub鈥 and 鈥楴umber of pupils鈥 are the titles for each axis.
Next, click on the bar chart button in the tool bar and you will be able to create a bar chart.
After creating a chart, you should write a brief summary in which you describe what the chart is showing and how this relates to your subject matter.
Example summary
Football is the most popular after-school club with seven members, and is closely followed by the gymnastics club with five members and Maths club with four members. The least popular club is space club with one member. The reading and pet clubs have two members each.
