The Catholic Church teaches that Christ鈥檚 offers proof of an afterlife. In the week before his death and resurrection, Christ tells those he meets that he will destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days (Matthew 26:61). He is later taunted with this when he is on the cross (Matthew 27:40).

The belief is that Christ鈥檚 resurrection not only fulfils the , but also proves that life after death exists. The crucifixion and resurrection of Christ appears in each of the four Gospels.

But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have died. For since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead has also come through a human being; for as all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ.
