A drainage basin is the area of land that is drained by a river and its tributaries. When precipitation falls onto the land, returns the water to the sea.

River processes shape the land in different ways as the river moves from its source to its mouth.

River landforms can be divided into upper, middle and lower course features. As the river moves from the upper course to the lower course, the features in the river will change.

Being able to use aerial photos and OS maps is an important skill for GCSE Geography.
