During December, January and February, we have our coldest months. This is called the season of Winter. With the sun spending less time in the sky, the days are short and the nights long.

In nature, it can feel like a very quiet time. A lot of the birds have flown away, or migrated, to warmer countries. Some animals go to sleep for months and months, called hibernation. Even the trees are taking a rest, they shed their leaves completely.

Winter can be so cold outside that frost can appear on every surface, turning the whole world a sparkling white. Water can freeze in lakes, but remember to be careful, the ice might not be as thick as it looks. If we are lucky, there might even be some snow to play in, perfect for building snowmen like Declan and Pip. Just remember to wrap up nice and warm!
