Niamh: Hi, I鈥檓 Niamh. My parents and I don鈥檛 have a religion, but they call themselves humanists.
Humanists don鈥檛 believe in a god, so they don鈥檛 follow the teachings of a holy book. They believe that science and history can help to explain the world.
It also means that my family don鈥檛 have a place of worship.
But we still think community is really important and we try to live good lives.
We like to meet at places where people can learn new things or live healthy lives.
Everyone is welcome.
My family are members of the museum, and we also see our neighbours in the nearby park.
Humanists and many non-religious people try to be kind and help others whenever we can.
Because we believe that everyone should be treated fairly and have a good life.
For example, my family and I help to look after the environment.
Many people believe this is important because all humans and animals depend on our planet to provide the things we need for a healthy and happy life.
Humanists and non-religious people believe we have a responsibility to make the world a better place for everyone鈥 and we also celebrate the things humans have done to make it so special already!

Some non-religious people call themselves A non-religious person who holds the beliefs and values of humanism..
Humanists believe that everybody has one life and that we should try to live it well.
They use鈥Science helps us understand the world, test ideas and predict outcomes.鈥痶o try to understand the world.
Humanists and many other non-religious people don't have a place of worship.
They meet up to talk, celebrate and learn in many different places, for example at museums, libraries or parks.
How non-religious people show care
Being kind and thoughtful is important to many people, whether religious or non-religious.
Some non-religious people follow the Golden Rule as a way to show care. The Golden Rule says treat others as you would like to be treated.
Humanists and many other non-religious people often care for humans, animals and the world. They try to help so everyone can live a good and happy life.
They show care in different ways, such as helping to look after the environment or helping people.
