Speaker 1: (ON PHONE) OK, thank you. Bye!
Speaker 2: Caitlin, have you seen that message from Mrs Smart?
She wanted to book an appointment for next week.
Can you have a look if you can fit her in somewhere?
Speaker 1: Yeah that's OK.
Speaker 2: Thank you.
Speaker 1: (TO AUDIENCE) So, Mrs Smart wants a cut and blow dry, and some individual extensions.
We usually book 60 minutes for individual extensions and 45 minutes for a cut and blow dry.
So that's 105 minutes, or an hour and 45 minutes in total.
So 1 hour and 45 minutes, but our appointments are booked in 15-minute blocks.
So, how many blocks do we need to reserve in total?
If I divide 1 hour and 45 minutes into 15-minute blocks, that comes to 7 blocks.
Right, so there's an available block at 10am.
7 blocks will take me to 11:45, but I need another 15 minutes before the next appointment to make sure the station is clean and tidy.
So, actually, that's 8 blocks. However, there's another slot at 12:30, which would run to 2:15, which gives me some time before the 2:30 that's booked in already. That could work.

Speaker: Now, I need to put the appointment into the computer system, but it has to be in the 24-hour clock.
All times that are in the afternoon that are pm are converted to the 24-hour system by adding 12 to the number of hours from 1pm onwards.
So, 1pm is 13, and so on.
Mrs Smart's finish time is 2:15 in the afternoon.
That means it's past the 12 noon mark, so we have to add 12 to the time. 2:15 plus 12 equals 14:15, so 2:15pm is 14:15 in the 24-hour clock system.
Great, I'll book it in.
Speaker 1: I booked in Mrs Smart for 12:30 on Wednesday.
Did you want me to let her know?
Speaker 2: Yes, please. Can you also work out how much she's going to pay?
Speaker 1: Yeah OK, I'll figure it out and then I'll give her a call, OK?
Speaker 2: Thank you so much. Thank you.
Speaker 1: (TO AUDIENCE) Right, so she's having a cut and blow dry with me, and then extensions with Freya, so that's 拢44.50, plus 拢135.00.
That's 拢179.50 altogether.
Speaker 2: (TO OTHER PEOPLE) How're you doing?
Have you managed to call Mrs Smart yet?
Speaker 1: Yeah, so I booked her in at 12:30 on Wednesday.
Speaker 2: OK great, thank you. Well done.
