Seymour: Welcome to today's episode of Seymour Science, all about Forces, with my special guest Izzy!

Izzy: Thanks Seymour!

If you want something to move, like Trevor, our pet tortoise, on a skateboard…what do you do?

It won't move on its own so you need to help it along by applying a force. A force is always a push, a pull or a twist…so let's try each of them out!

If we push the skateboard, what do you think will happen?

Seymour: We made the skateboard move!

Izzy: Did you guess that right?

What do you think will happen if we push it harder?

Seymour: It moved further and faster.

Izzy: That's because we applied more force.

But what if we pull the skateboard, can you guess what will happen then?

We made the skateboard move in the opposite direction from before!

We can use forces to change the direction that objects move.

But what will happen if we apply less force?

Seymour: It didn't move as far!

Izzy: Did you guess that?

Seymour: All this pushing and pulling is thirsty work!

Izzy: So how can we open the bottle?

We can't push it and we can't pull it. Instead, we have to twist it. A twist is where we bend or turn something to move it.

Seymour: Ahhh refreshing!

Mum: Seymour, have you seen your brother's football?

Seymour: Uh oh! Got to go!
