Speaker 1: OK, so, we鈥檝e got a really busy week ahead of us.
As you know Valentine鈥檚 Day is coming up, so I鈥檇 like you both to create a poster.
(TO AUDIENCE) It鈥檚 important that I give clear instructions for the task so the girls know what to do.
(TO OTHER PEOPLE) It needs to say 15% off all hair and beauty treatments.
Needs to be bold, colourful and enticing.
I鈥檓 happy for you both to come up with the design and the wording, but it must have that offer on there.
(TO AUDIENCE) When assigning a task like this, I emphasise how we鈥檙e a team by asking for their input.
(TO OTHER PEOPLE) Have you got any suggestions as to what we can include on it?
Anything we could add to entice new and existing clients?
Speaker 2: I was thinking just keep it contemporary.
Speaker 1: Yep.
Speaker 3: Maybe offer them a free glass of bubbly with whatever they book?
Speaker 1: Yeah, I really like the idea of that.
(TO AUDIENCE) I鈥檒l listen to their ideas but if I don鈥檛 agree, I鈥檒l go on to explain my concerns.
(TO OTHER PEOPLE) Any suggestions on what we might be able to write on the top of it?
Speaker 2: Well, what do you think about 'Valentine鈥檚 Day special'?
Speaker 1: I hear what you鈥檙e saying but I think it needs to be something a little bit more creative.
(TO AUDIENCE) It鈥檚 so important to acknowledge someone鈥檚 opinion in order to come to an agreement on the best way to move forward.
Speaker 1: (TO OTHER PEOPLE) OK.
Test your knowledge with this activity.
Speaker 1: (TO AUDIENCE) We鈥檙e putting together the poster based on the ideas we discussed from the meeting earlier.
We want the poster to stand out and the wording to catch people鈥檚 attention.
(TO OTHER PEOPLE) If the customer reads something funny it will entice them to read the rest of the poster.
Speaker 2: Maybe just play on some words somehow, like love is in the air but鈥
Speaker 1: What about love is in the hair?
Speaker 2: That鈥檇 be a good one. That will be really good.
(TO AUDIENCE) Starting a poster with a fun play on words will really catch people鈥檚 attention.
Speaker 1: (TO OTHER PEOPLE) The most important information is the 15%, it needs to be as big as possible in the middle.
Speaker 2: (TO AUDIENCE) When making a poster you want the message to stand out, you don鈥檛 want to include too much text.
Just the essential information the customer needs to raise their interest.
Speaker 1: (TO OTHER PEOPLE) At the bottom though, there鈥檚 a bit of a gap. Maybe something to do with pampering?
Speaker 2: Pampered to perfection?
Speaker 1: Alliteration! I love it.
(TO AUDIENCE) We want this to attract new customers so it鈥檚 important that all of the information is correct and stands out.
By using techniques like wordplay and alliteration, it helps make our message clear.
Speaker 1: So how are you getting on?
Speaker 2: Good, thank you.
Speaker 1: (TO AUDIENCE) When looking at something promotional like a poster, it鈥檚 crucial that I have our customers in mind.
What you鈥檙e offering should be immediately apparent.
(TO OTHER PEOPLE) Love is in the hair.
I think that will make our clients laugh and also will attract new clients I think.
The 鈥15% off鈥 is in the perfect position, it鈥檚 really eye catching.
(TO AUDIENCE) When I give feedback I do it in a positive and constructive way so the girls feel like they鈥檝e done a good job.
I say things like, 'I like this but I think it would be better if it was like this.'
Speaker 3: (TO OTHER PEOPLE) Do you feel that there鈥檚 anything, any information missing?
Speaker 1: So I think this looks good but would be better if maybe we added a few more words like spoil and relax.
I think it would be a bit more appealing to the customer.
(TO AUDIENCE) I鈥檝e looked at the poster the girls have put together.
I need to think about my customers and what they might ask when looking at it.
I was clear about what I thought worked and what didn鈥檛.
(TO OTHER PEOPLE) Apart from that it looks great, well done.
Speaker 2: Thank you!
Speaker 3: Thank you.
Speaker 1: Thanks!
