Title: Untitled

From the very first time I dropped a lifeless piece of clay on a potter’s wheel I knew I wanted to create fascinating objects that evidence maker and process. The main ambition of this body of work is to dispel the myth that wheel thrown ceramics has to have a function. Do thrown objects have to uniform cylindrical form? Does the maker have to remove all evidence of the production process? And finally do all thrown objects have to have a shiny glaze? Throwing the objects, cutting away the base, manipulating the form and the use of Raku firing methods allows me as a maker to interact with the object, and to affect the overall outcome thus leaving evidence of the makers hand and skill.
