My junky tutu dress design idea came from tidying up after a party. I saw all of the wrappers going to waste and decided to save them and use them to create a rough garbage look. I made the skirt to the tutu from random panels of old denim and bits of used fabric, which I then melted wrappers onto and sewed on extra bits of materials that would have otherwise been thrown away. I left all of the edges on the tutu raw so that it would tie in with the ragged raw feel of the dress. This along with the trapping help to give the dress texture. I used gathers and pleats when I attached the skirt to the top of a worn out pair of dungarees which were destined for the bin, to make the dress puff out slightly.
