Jeans were originally worn by labourers and boat workers in Italy, so inspired by the 60s and school uniform type dress I created something that could be worn as 'work' dress but is more feminine than the original worker's jeans. Using jeans that were worn by someone who was a rosepicker, then worn by me as shorts and now finally as a dress, these are well worn and very eco. I avoided using bleach and unsustainable materials such as plastic bags in my overal design, instead using scraps of old velvet. The whole garment has been sown by hand so no electricity was used in the manufacturing either! The logo on the front side shows a speech bubble with 5 petals within. This symbolises both the 5 continents and the possible 50 years before global warming really kicks in. The speech bubble indicates the need to talk and solve the issue now.
