Title: Mexican Beauty

I was deeply inspired by the set theme, Mexico. From my research I considered the culture, the hot climate, and what a woman would want to wear in Mexico. The woman who would wear this outfit would have comfort in mind but would also want to look glamorous and sexy. She would be confident, impossibly chic and incredibly self assured. I looked at pictures of the classic Spanish matador (that are also famous in Mexico), and this inspired me to finish my design off with the jacket. I also took inspiration from Matthew's past designs and his use of flowing fabrics and intricate detail. From this I created a long, flowing dress made of pastel coloured chiffons with a bejeweled neckline and a cropped, boxy little jacket to wear on top, resulting in a fun, glamorous outfit. I like how there is a big contrast between the long chiffon dress and the short, structured jacket made from a sturdy black fabric with gold and bronze detailing. I found it hard to find a fabric which would demonstrate the kind of fabric that I imagined the jacket would be made from, but did include a few small cuttings of the various different colours of chiffon that the dress would be made of and a picture of a Mexican matador that inspired me to create the cropped jacket.
