When researching Mexico, I did not want to stereotype Mexican people, I wanted to learn about the history and culture of the country I knew little of. When looking at the history of Mexico, I learnt about the Mexican Revolution (1910-1921) so I researched into costumes of that era. I researched deeper into Mexican history and found information about the Aztecs so I included a choker necklace using the idea of the Aztecs. I love using bright and bold colours but I used pastel (pinks and blues) and coral coloured tone to give the dress a more rural, elegrant and femine look, I used soft pastels to soften the drawing and give texture to the outfit designed. I also used modern touches into it because I wanted the design to appeal to a younger audience. So I used ruffled ribbons on the headscraf, the back on the dress and shoes because the "ruff" is a key theme of spring/summer 2008 fashion. I enjoyed learning about Mexico as I was able to put history and culture in to something I love doing.
