Title: Theme 'Mexico'

I have been inspired by the Mexican festival dancers, with their brightly coloured outfits. When designing I thought about how I could make the outfit look more sexy and modern, I had noticed from my research that most of the dancers wore baggy of the shoulder tops with long skirts, which I think is due to the Mexican climate and keeping cool. This made me want to do something more fitted, so I had designed an off the shoulder bodice with a lace up back, so that the person wearing the garment is not too hot. I have added an accessory of a fan, mainly to give elegance, plus it can be used to show emotions which is that the dancers are doing and to keep cool. The skirt that I have designed has a train which comes from the hipline to flow along the floor, I decided on this as all the dancers dressers are long and they lift them up at the front to dance with. I took this and added the element of a having the front shorter than the back, which I think works well. In addition to this I added a panel of gathers down the back of the skirt coming from the hipline down to the hem. I did this as most of the Mexican dancers had gathers and frills on there outfits. It also adds fullness to the garment. Overall I think my design is original, colourful and has a modern approach to Mexico.
