My inspiration for developed from a variety of sources. My 1st source of inspiration was Matthew Williamson's design collections particularly 'Electric Angels 97' & his latest Winter 07 collec.. Through these i identified key aspects of his signature style i.e bright bold colours, intricately detailed patterns & metallic detail on necklines & belts. Mexican Heritage inspired me to analyse Aztecs, their clothing, gold & hieroglyphics. I adapted a hieroglyphic symbol to use for the large gold clasp of the belt. Mexican traditional clothing inspired me to use layers & a shawl/poncho neck & sleeve line. Mexican culture; in this case music also influenced me. I love the delicate detail around Mexican guitars. I replicated the guitar detail, sound box & strings as seen on the neckline, shoulder & bodice. The colour scheme was inspired by a Matthew Williamson design from his Winter 07 collec.. also purples/golds& yellows=complementary colours, which is pleasing to the eye.
