My inspiration for this dress came from the Mexican sun drenched horizon where cacti grow. I designed the bodice to interpret the structure of the cacti and to capture it's shape. The skirt of the dress fits in with the cacti theme but I made it ruched to capture the everyday fun in Mexico. I used a bright green for the bodice to match the colour of the cacti but to also match the bright colours seen in everyday Mexican life. The skirt of the dress I chose to do in a lighter green to bring out the brightness of the bodice. I chose to do a cacti motif, which would be made out of orange diamonte gems, to tie in with the theme of a cacti but I chose to do it in orange once again to show of the bright colours seen in Mexico.
