We did a project on structures for school. I chose butterflies for my inspiration because I found it interesting that they are made up of two structures. The first is the main structure of the butterfly- It's body, It's antenae etc. and secondly the structure of the scales that make up the patterns on It's wings. These can be seen when it is viewed under a microscope. I was also inspired by the colours that butterflies have. They are irridescent and shimmery, like coloured lights. I wanted to recreate this. For my painting I used acrylic on canvas I also used tissue paper to give it texture. I made butterflies seperate to the canvas and stuck them on to try and create the effect that butterflies are trying to fly off the canvas.
