Title: "15 Minutes of Fame"

I began by looking into the iconic screen printing produced by Andy Warhol in the 1960s. In particular, his famous quote; ‘In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.’ Warhol believed here that a person could become catapulted to celebrity status and grab media attention for at least fifteen minutes of their life. Ultimately this is the aim for Ed Sheeran, to gain recognition, although in this case, for a much longer period of time. I believe that I have created an almost screenprint like effect by using a number of filters and changes in hue and saturation to modify the original portrait of Ed Sheeran. I wanted to include repetition but unlike Warhol, my series is imperfect. I decided to use 15 images rather than a perfect 16 on my cover to replicate each minute of Warhol’s renowned phrase. I decided to use photography to represent this as I believe this medium has the ability to generate a record of a snapshot of time that no other media has the ability to create and again a reference to the ticking by of each of the fifteen minutes.
