Title: Screen Skills Bursary : Harriet's First Blog

I got a text from Dad in my physics lesson one day, telling me ´óÏó´«Ã½ Blast had called and that they’d ring back at 16:30. Ignoring quantum phenomena for the moment, I decided I definitely hadn’t won the competition. And when the phone call came, I ran downstairs to Dad and told him I’d won, and he shrieked louder than I had. It was the next day, after 24 hours of floating on air, that I suddenly came to the dramatic realisation that I couldn’t remember exactly what I’d been told on the phone. What if I’d got completely the wrong end of the stick, and I hadn’t actually won?? I set about feverishly checking my email for written proof, and after about five days, I saw my name on the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Blast website. And then I started floating again – metaphorically, of course. Since then, I’ve been on TV in my embarrassingly messy bedroom with the camel puppet in the background, I’ve dashed off to the BFI to see my face hideously expanded across a screen for nearly five minutes, had a couple of slightly manic interviews, and much more - I have loved every single second of it.
